LOGLINE: When Dana’s husband Soren dies unexpectedly, they are granted a one year grace period to complete their soul contract. They struggle to reach across the dimensions and the illusion of perfection to discover the truth about death, betrayal and love.
Two of the biggest fears humans have about the ones we love are death and betrayal. Both happened to me when I suddenly lost my husband and six months later discovered his secret.
Grace Period is a feature film based on my experience. It’s the story of a woman who wants to continue communicating with her husband after he dies.
In the film, Dana she meets the love of her life when Soren, who read her book on Shamanism, comes from Sweden to her retreat center in Peru. They have a magical connection and recognize they are soul mates.
Four years later, Dana accepts an advance from her publishers for a new book about Soul Mates, just in time to keep her retreat center alive. In the middle of writing this book, they travel to Florida where Soren collapses.
While he is comatose in the ICU, Dana is convinced he’ll come back to her. She can’t imagine her life or her book without him. A week passes with no improvement. As Dana’s hope wanes, an angelic being named STAR, appears helping Dana reconcile her personal desires with her unconditional love for her husband that enables her to take Soren off life support.
Star also appears to Soren granting him a one year grace after his death to complete his soul connection with Dana. This means he has to get Dana to discover his secret and in the process lead her to deeper understanding of love.
Dana shifts the focus of her book to include soul mates communicating beyond dimensions. But life without Soren is lonely and communicating with him is more difficult than she’d hoped. She returns to a psychic in Cusco that Soren consulted early in their relationship.
Soren seizes this opportunity to communicate with Dana through the psychic telling her to look in his computer. Dana excitedly rushes home convinced the answer to inner dimensional communication is hidden in his computer. Instead she finds a file called ANJA. Anja and Soren had been having an affair.
The idealistic bubble she’d put around their relationship shatters. The theme of her book becomes impossible for her to write. She may lose her retreat center if she can’t pay back the advance.
With the aid of Star and Dana’s best friend Teri, Soren and Dana reach across the dimensions and the illusion of perfection to discover that death doesn’t end a relationship and love survives the worst you can imagine.
It’s magical, it’s touching and most of it really happened!
