Because of our proximity to the equator, here in Pisac there is only 1 hour difference between the darkness of summer and winter on the Solstices. For me, this Solstice celebration is not so much about darkness and light as it is about extremes and the shift that takes place today whichever hemisphere you’re in. Planet Earth has a very important relationship with the sun. Without its warmth and light there is no life. So we honor its movements, acknowledging with gratitude its gifts to us. Each solstice, the sun reaches its edge, moving toward or away from the earth and begins its journey back toward equilibrium to the center point. Let’s celebrate that shift – from extremes to balance, so needed at this time of tension and duality.
