It’s so beautiful here. Why should we be inside? The surf crashing against the rocks, the rhythmic sound of the waves, the breeze blowing through the palm trees, blue sky, perfect weather. I’m grateful in this moment of global reset to be “stranded” in such a spot as this.
But I’m curious.
A DJ on my car radio suggested we shouldn’t be calling it “social distancing” but rather “physical distancing” because we still need to be social. Gathering online has taken on a whole new dimension. Together, yet not.
I wonder if the governmental commands to isolate are more disturbing than the virus. Don’t we all have our moment for crossing over? Death is part of life for all of us. Is death what we are collectively fearing or is it death of the way we have been living?
I’m curious. Why have billions of people around the world collectively agreed to “stay at home”, without any law being passed? It occurred to me today that the current restrictions in many countries are in violation of their constitutions that guarantee freedom of movement and freedom to gather. Simply by declaring a “state of emergency”.
Some are exempted from “staying at home” like grocery store workers who stock the shelves and operate the cash registers, the ones who deliver take out orders, gas station attendants and here in Florida the landscaping workers who cut the grass and trim the garden growth. I wonder if they are getting sick at higher rates than the ones who stay home. I haven’t heard. Have you?
I’m curious how it happened that we all agreed to this “lockdown”. Around the world – allies and enemies alike – agreed to take the same precautions regarding a virus when for years we’ve been happy to kill each other for disagreeing about many other things.
I wonder what is really going on. What’s not being reported or what is being reported for that matter?
And still, I’m very grateful if I have to be prevented from returning home, that I’m stranded in such a beautiful place, where I’m free to invite you to be curious with me. How will it unfold?
