Soul Connections

Around 26 years ago, I met the brother of a colleague who had recently returned to South Africa where I was living. He was at a turning point in his young life, passionately spiritual and a bit unsure how to live out his love for humanity and justice – how to make a difference in a broken world. I remember being touched by his passion and frustration, feeling a soul connection with him, even though our paths crossed only briefly.

Yesterday he arrived in Pisac by some path of grace. Both of our lives have taken many turns in the almost three decades between our last meeting. As I showed him around our little Andean town and discussed what his plans were for the next three weeks, as well as his life back home, that same spiritual passion I encountered when we first met was still evident. And the soul connection I felt then seemed just as strong, connecting each of us to our own inspiration and passion for life, as we shared our desires on how to make a positive impact in a complex world. The encounter delighted me and was a reminder that the mystery of life’s interactions are a marvel to behold.

May the new year bring you many magical moments of inspiration and delight.
