DAY 21

I’m at peace today. Mom was released from the hospital this afternoon. She tested negative for the virus. In another era before survival was paramount for a 98 year old, we might have put a band-aid on her cut forehead and offered her a cup of tea, rather than an ambulance to the ER, a CT-scan, a chest x-ray, a COVID-19 test and a hospital admission to await the results. Forty-eight hours alone and confused.

I’m glad she is out of the hospital and still sad that I can’t see her. I accept what is.

I took a new route on the bike today. Inland Waterway on one side with beautiful homes and high rises on the ocean side, sea not visible from the road. I’m sitting on a bench dedicated by Dr. Jack and Marilyn Lighton “for the wonderful memories”. I’m looking across at the Waterway, with my own recent memories of my arrival in Jupiter three weeks ago for a 2-day visit.
